The following CPRP pain research projects are underway or recently were completed.
Principal Investigator: Michael E. Clark, Ph.D. Co-Principal Investigator: Ronald J. Gironda, Ph.D.
The goal of this project is to identify predictors of positive and negative CPRP pain treatment outcomes and to identify key factors that relate to participant gains from treatment.
Principal Investigator: Michael E. Clark, Ph.D. This three-year funded project seeks to evaluate the utility of a pool of behavioral tasks as physical performance outcomes measures for individuals with chronic non-cancer pain treated in an interdisciplinary pain program. It will assess intra- and inter-rater reliabilities, concurrent, discriminative, and predictive validity, and sensitivity to treatment-related change.
Principal Investigator: Ronald J. Gironda, Ph.D. The purpose of this two-year, three-phase study is to evaluate the utility of a three-dimensional, accelerometer-based motion tracking system as a measure of activity change among individuals undergoing chronic pain treatment in a comprehensive inpatient pain treatment program.
Principal Investigator: Robyn L. Walker, Ph.D. Co-Investigator: Michael E. Clark, Ph.D.
This project focuses on identifying the best methods to identify and treat acute and chronic pain in military personnel with severe and complex trauma and associated pain. Principal Investigator: Brenda F. Pinkerman, Ph.D. Co-Investigators: Ronald G. Gironda, Ph.D. & Michael E. Clark, Ph.D.
This study examines the component structure and other psychometric characteristics of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale as applied to inpatients with chronic pain.
PROJECT COMPLETED: Contact PI for details. Principal Investigator: Paul Sloan, Ph.D. Co-Investigators: Michael E. Clark, Ph.D. & Ronald G. Gironda, Ph.D.
This investigation assesses the incremental validity of selected MMPI-2 Restructured Clinical Scales, relative to their corresponding Clinical Scale counterparts, in the prediction of chronic pain treatment outcomes.
PROJECT COMPLETED: Contact PI for details. Principal Investigator: Brenda F. Pinkerman, Ph.D. Co-Investigators: Ronald G. Gironda, Ph.D. & Michael E. Clark, Ph.D.
This study examines the effectiveness of multidisciplinary chronic pain treatment for the treatment of headache pain.
PROJECT COMPLETED: Contact PI for details.
Principal Investigator: Ronald J. Gironda, Ph.D. The primary objective of this study is to determine the prevalence and nature of chronic pain among OIF/OEF veterans seeking care at a large veterans’ medical center. PROJECT COMPLETED: Contact PI for details.
