As a comprehensive chronic pain center and a VA Clinical Program of Excellence, staff of the CPRP are actively engaged in research designed to increase our understanding of chronic pain and to improve our treatment efforts. ALL research directly involving CPRP participants is submitted for review and approval by the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital Research and Development Committee, and by the Institutional Review Board of the University of South Florida College of Medicine. These reviews insure that the project protects the rights of all research participants, and that the proposed research is important and is conducted in a professional and appropriate way. If you are a participant in CPRP clinical programs you MAY be asked to participate in one of these studies. However, your participation is entirely voluntary. If you prefer not to participate, or if you change your mind after agreeing to participate, it will not effect in any way the care you receive from the CPRP.
